Pesticide Disposal Dates

Waste Pesticide Collection and Disposal Program May 1 to May 5, 2003 8:00 a.m. to Noon
Three Dates and Locations For Your Convenience: May 1 -UNL Panhandle Research & Extension Center 4502 Ave I Scottsbluff, NE; May 2 - West Co, 724 W. 3rd St, Alliance, NE; May 5- Swann Transfer Station, 1010 East Niobrara St, Chadron, NE


Accepted Products:
Unused, unneeded, old or damaged pesticides, includes insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides
Pesticides of all types (agricultural crops, livestock, homes, lawns, gardens, structures, commercial), including those in aerosol containers
Farmer-supplied electrical transformers containing PCBs from renovated irrigation systems


Products Not Accepted:
Pesticide products in pressurized cylinders
Oil, antifreeze, paints, varnishes, thinners, cleaners, solvents


Program Guidelines:
Leave pesticide labels intact on container
Handle containers with chemical resistant gloves
Wash hands with soap and water after handling
Handle containers in a manner to prevent spillage


No costs or fees for less than 1000 pounds of pesticide products, no appointment needed
For quantities over 1000 pounds, contact Rich Reiman in advance, NE Dept. of Agriculture, at (402) 471-2394 for arrangements. NDA will charge $1.00 per pound for that quantity over 1000 pounds.
This program is organized by Nebraska Department of Agriculture and is being promoted by the University of Nebraska Cooperative Extension.
